Valid for MyWebsite.
You can change the page title and page description for each subpage of your MyWebsite in order to optimise your search engine placement. This article explains how to do this.
What are page titles and page descriptions?
The page title of your homepage is the text that is displayed at the top of your browser window. If a visitor saves your homepage as a favourite, this is the text that is displayed.
The description for search results should be short and meaningful and describe the content of the subpage. Each subpage can have a meaningful description that differs from the main page. Customised search terms also help subpages to be found more specifically.
Customise page titles and page descriptions
- Log in to your IONOS account and open your MyWebsite project.
- Click on Manage pages in the main menu.
- In the page overview on the left, select the page for which you want to edit the settings. Change the display of the side column for the selected page or specify whether the page should be visible to your visitors. You can also assign a password here to create a protected area for selected persons.
- Scroll down to the bottom. Each subpage uses the default settings for the page title and description. If this is the case, you can recognise this by the note You are using the default SEO settings for this page. You can find out more about this function in the article Default page description and title of MyWebsite.
- Now customise the title and description by clicking in the respective field and entering text.
- Click on Preview to see the approximate display in a search engine. Click on Reset at the bottom left to restore the default settings.
- Click on Optimise search result to return to edit mode.
- The changes are automatically saved when you close the window.
