Using Video Chat (Jitsi) in Nextcloud

With the integration of Jitsi in the Managed Nextcloud app and the free IONOS Video Chat, you can add a video conferencing solution to your Managed Nextcloud installation. In this article, we'll show you how to do it.
Please Note
The maximum number of participants in a video conference is 5.
Downloading and Activating Jitsi
- Log in to your Managed Nextcloud.
- In the top menu bar, click the circle icon with your profile photo or the first letter of your username to open the submenu.
- Select Apps.
- From the left Managed Nextcloud menu, select Communication. In the details pane, you will see several tiles with Managed Nextcloud apps.
- In the Jitsi Integration tile, click the Download and Activate button.
The app will be added to your Managed Nextcloud installation and a camera icon will appear in the top Managed Nextcloud menu bar.
- In the top menu bar, click the circle icon with your profile photo or the first letter of your username to open the submenu.
- Select Settings > Administration: Jitsi.
- In the Server URL field (required field), enter the following address: https://meet.videochat.ionos.com/
Using Jitsi
After you have activated the Jitsi integration, a camera icon (Conferences) appears in the top menu bar of your Managed Nextcloud installation. Click on it to create a conference room for the first use. Created conference rooms are saved and can be used again at a later time.
- To conduct a video conference, click the triangle icon (Join) of the desired room.
- Click the Go in here button to activate the video conference.
- Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen to display the video conference options.
- Select the three-dot icon > Invite People to add participants to your video conference.
