For Cloud Servers, VPS, Virtual Server Cloud, Dedicated Servers and Server Power Deals managed in the Cloud Panel
In this article, we'll show you which information is listed in the Costs > Interactive Invoice section of the IONOS Cloud Panel.
In the Interactive Invoice section, the costs of the previous months are displayed graphically. In addition, in this section you can view the invoices of the previous months and the expected costs of the current month.
Viewing Interactive Invoices
To view the interactive invoice, follow these steps:
- Log in to your IONOS account.
- Click Menu > Server & Cloud in the title bar. If you have multiple server contracts, select the desired Server & Cloud contract.
In the navigation bar on the left, click Costs > Interactive Invoice.
Notes
The cost overview does not take into account discounts and special promotions. The displayed time is given as coordinated universal time (UTC).
On the Invoice Overview page in the My Account > Invoices & Payment Details section of your IONOS account, you can download your individual invoices from the last 2 years in PDF format in the Individual Invoices tab. For more information on retrieving invoices, see the following article: Downloading invoices at IONOS
Invoices from IONOS are always automatically sent to the email address you have specified in your contact details. If you set an additional email address for receiving invoices in your account details, a copy of your invoices and payment-related information will automatically be sent to this second email address. This gives you the option of having your invoices and payment-related information sent to two different email addresses at the same time.
If you want to receive your invoices as an email attachment, we need your consent. How you can do this is described in the following article: Downloading invoices at IONOS
Information about the structure of your IONOS invoice can be found in the following article: Structure of the IONOS Invoices
General Information on Cost Calculation
Cloud Servers
Servers with a fixed configuration are offered at a discounted price.
If you turn off a server with a fixed configuration, the predetermined charges continue to apply.
When you create a server with a flexible configuration, disk space, RAM, and CPU usage is charged by the minute.
If you turn off a server with a flexible configuration, you will not be charged for the following resources:
CPU
RAM
Main IP
Pay-per-use affordable software licensesTo stop the charges completely, you need to delete the cloud server. Turning off the cloud server is not enough. Since the resources remain reserved for you, you will be charged for them as well.
You will be charged for resources whose usage is always fixed, regardless of the actual usage. Examples: SSDs and additional IP addresses
Dedicated Servers
Servers with a fixed configuration are offered at a discounted price.
To stop the charges completely, you need to delete the Dedicated Server. If you stop or turn off your Dedicated Server, the server is still reserved for you and, therefore, you will be charged.
Structure of the Interactive Invoice Section
To view the details of an invoice, select the desired invoice.
The invoice details are listed in a table. The table has three levels. The first level lists the groups you use.
Server: Displays the server that has been used by you in the relevant period.
Dedicated Server Shared Storage: Displays the Dedicated Server that you used during the time period.
Shared Storage: Displays the shared storages that you used during the time period.
Block Storage: Displays the block storages that you used during the time period.
Images: Displays the images you have created.
Network Resources: Displays the network resources that you used during the time period, such as additional IPv6 addresses.
Load Balancers: Displays the load balancers that you used during the time period.
Public Network: Displays the public IP addresses that have been used by you during the relevant time period.
Backup Accounts: Displays the backup accounts or backup package.
The second level lists the following information:
Service: Displays the services you are using.
Charges: Shows the monthly costs of the related service.
Average: Shows the average amount used.
From: Shows when the service was first used in the selected period.
To: Shows the last date/time when the service was used in the selected period.
Usage: Percentage to be paid based on the monthly contract cost as well as the duration of usage.
Net: Net cost accumulated.
The third level lists the exact duration of the services used. Furthermore, all adjustments to the services used are logged.
Please Note
The information that appears in level three is not included on your invoices.
The subtotal and the amount to pay are shown below the table. Two graphic evaluations are displayed under the amount to be paid. The graphic that appears on the left lists the costs per group. In the graphic that appears on the right, a detailed evaluation of the costs that have been calculated for the selected group is listed. To display this detailed evaluation, click on the desired group in the graphic that appears on the left.
The minute-by-minute billing is based on the monthly price and the duration of use. In order to calculate the costs incurred within the billing period, the billing period is converted into minutes. The monthly price is then divided by this value. The result is multiplied by the usage period converted into minutes. Example:
The usage of a CPU costs £9.99 per month. The usage period is 3 days, 15 hours and 24 minutes during the billing period 02/06/2023 - 02/07/2023. The cost is calculated as follows: (9.99 / 43200) x 5244 = £1.21
Please Note
The indicated price is subject to change at any time.
In order for the specified usage to be calculated as a percentage, the billing period and the duration of use are converted into seconds. The following formula is used to calculate the usage in percent:
If you adjust your server during the billing period, the weighted average of the service used will be calculated. Example:
The billing period is 18/06/2023 - 18/07/2023.
You created a server with 1 GB of RAM on 01/07/2023.
You increased the RAM to 3 GB RAM on 03/07/2023.
You increased the RAM to 6 GB RAM on 14/07/2023.
In the first step, the duration of use is converted into seconds:
RAM (GB) | From | To | Seconds |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 01/07/2023 0:00:00 h | 13/07/2023 0:00:00 h | 1,036,800 |
3 | 03/07/2023 0:00:00 h | 18/07/2023 0:00:00 h | 1,296,000 |
6 | 14/07/2023 | 18/07/2023 0:00:00 h | 345,600 |
The costs are calculated as follows:
