Server-side encryption of files (not recommended)

Your Managed Nextcloud can be configured to encrypt uploaded files in Settings > Security > Server-side Encryption. Note that enabling this option will cause errors and should not be done under any circumstances.

Note

An accidentally activated server-side encryption can only be removed by IONOS Customer Service.

IONOS provides you with an exclusive storage area for each Managed Nextcloud installation, which is not shared with other users. Server-side encryption is not required for this reason.

For increased security needs, encrypt your data locally, e.g. with Veracrypt, and share only the encrypted objects via the Managed Nextcloud.
