The security, reliability and performance of your projects are important to us. We will therefore be transferring some of our Cloud Server to a new and improved environment. This applies to contracts through which you have ordered one or more Cloud Server. Cloud Server-Contracts through which you have additionally purchased Dedicated Server will not be included in this migration at this time. The licence costs previously increased by our software partner VMware® will thus be reduced. We will inform you of any changes by email.

When will the migration take place?

The first migrations will start on 2 September 2024 and further migrations will take place in the coming weeks and months. As these migrations will be carried out automatically, we cannot give you a more precise time frame.

You will be informed separately by email for each server before the start. During the migration, it is necessary for us to shut down your IONOS Cloud Server. No configuration changes will be possible at this time.

Once the migration has been completed, your IONOS Cloud Server will be switched back on and we will inform you of the completion.

Will there be any changes to the server configuration?

The configuration of the Cloud Server is not changed in terms of vCPU, RAM size and storage size. With the new platform, you get a faster bandwidth of up to 1 Gbit/s (previously 400 Mbit/s) and high-performance NVMe SSD storage.

Can I delete Cloud Server after migration?

After the migration, you can delete one or more Cloud Server if you no longer need them. However, at least one Cloud Server must remain in each contract. If you also want to remove this, you must cancel the entire contract.

Which features and functions will no longer be available after the migration?

The following functions and features will no longer be available to you after the migration:

  • IPv4 addresses that do not belong to your server's data centre will not be migrated. All other IPv4 addresses will be migrated unchanged.
  • Existing IPv6 addresses or IPv6 subnets will be replaced by new ones. Reverse DNS is no longer available for IPv6.
  • The DNS host name is no longer displayed in Cloud Panel.
  • Existing user images/ISOs are not migrated and are therefore no longer available after the migration. You can then create new user images.
  • If you are using Plesk and your installation does not work properly after the migration, reactivate your installation in your IONOS account with the Plesk licence key.
  • Access data for certain third-party applications such as Plesk, cPanel, etc. are no longer displayed in Cloud Panel. Please make sure to keep your login information in a safe place.
  • If you are using Cloud Backup, please ensure that you reschedule your backups and install the appropriate drivers if required. Full backups that were created before the migration will no longer work afterwards.

Which features and functions will be made available again at a later date?

Listed below are the features and functions that will no longer be available to you for some time after the migration, but will be made available again at a later date:

  • Load Balancer
  • Block Storage
  • Shared storage
  • SSH key management
  • Private network
  • VPN
  • Monitoring
  • API token
  • Users
  • Roles
  • Creation of Cloud Servers and Dedicated Servers within the same Cloud Panel

Are your own uploaded images available after the migration?

Images that you have uploaded to Cloud Panel yourself will no longer be available after the migration. However, you can create a new image of your Cloud Server at any time after the migration.

Is the outgoing port 25 still open after the migration?

If the outgoing port 25 was activated for your Cloud Server, it will also be open after the migration.

How can I monitor my server after the migration?

The monitoring function will no longer be available for some time after the migration. However, you have alternative options for monitoring your server. You can find detailed information on this in the following articles:
