When setting up Microsoft 365, the following data stored in the IONOS account is transmitted to Microsoft and then checked:

  • Name

  • Company name

  • Postal address


To successfully complete the setup, the following requirements must be met:

  • Your name, company name and address must not contain any commas or apostrophes.

  • Your name and company name must not consist exclusively of numbers.

  • The postcode you enter must be correct.


If an error is detected during this check, the setup will not be completed. In this case, a general error message will be displayed. In this case, proceed as follows:

  • Check the data stored in your IONOS account and make any necessary corrections. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the following article:

  • Then wait 10 minutes for the changes to take effect in all systems.

  • Then repeat the setup of the user account. The required steps are described in the following article:

  • Optional: As soon as Microsoft 365 is set up, you can change the data stored in your IONOS account again and re-enter the previously stored data.
