We show you how to prevent access to your website with the help of an .htaccess file.
You can prevent access to your website while you make updates, and then allow access again when finished.
Step 1
Create a file named .htaccess and insert the following content:
Deny from all
Step 2
Put the .htaccess file in the directory that contains the files for your website.
Please note: The .htaccess automatically affects subdirectories. An .htaccess with the above content, which is located in the main directory, would prevent access to all web pages.
