With your Android device, you can save important personal data from your device, such as photos and videos, to your HiDrive on a regular basis. In case of data loss, you can restore your personal data simply and easily. The restore can be performed from another android device as well.
Requirements
- HiDrive Pro package or Device Backup add-on in combination with another HiDrive package.
- HiDrive app on your Android device
- Android Version 4.4 (Kitkat) or higher
Set up Backup on Android
To set up and start a backup on your Android device:
- Open the HiDrive app on your Android device.
- Tap on the menu icon and select Device Backup -> Configure Device Backup.
- In the field Backup Name, enter a name for your backup.
- In the section Schedule, decide how often you would like to perform a backup.
- Please select in Connection Type, whether your backup may only occur if Wi-Fi has been turned on or whether it may be performed as well if mobile data are in use.
- In the section Backup Data, please define the data you would like your Android device to backup.
- Check Remove deleted data from backup to ensure the data you delete on your device will also be deleted on your HiDrive backup.
- Click on Start Backup to finish setup and to start the actual backup process.
The following data types will be saved on your Android device:

Notes
- You can only have one backup instance per Android device.
- Battery level must be higher than 30 % to perform a backup on an Android device.
Restore Android Backup
To restore a backup from an Android device, proceed as follows:
- Open the HiDrive app on your Android device.
- Tap on the menu icon and select Device Backup -> My Saved Devices.
- Select the desired device. The backup settings of this device are being displayed.
- Deactivate data you do not want to restore by placing the slider to the left. If the slider is already at the left most position, there are no data of that data type available to be restored.
- Start the recovery by clicking Start Restore.
Notes
- Data may be restored to another device than the device used, as long as the other device is running Android.
- Please note, videos, photos and audio will be completely transferred to the respective device folders. However, as for Contacts, only the contacts not yet present on the device will be updated.
