Entering a New Domain in the Admin Section of your WordPress Installation
Please use the “Print” function at the bottom of the page to create a PDF.
If you have changed the domain for a WordPress website in IONOS, you also have to change it in the WordPress administrator area.
Checking the Domain Status in IONOS
Once you have changed your domain's destination and your new domain is connected to the correct webspace directory, you can see your webspace status in IONOS in the Domains > My Domains section under Status. The directory you selected will also appear under this status. Once the status has changed, your website will become available at the new domain. You can now update the domain name in the WordPress settings.
Entering a New Domain in the Admin Section of your IONOS WordPress Installation
Perform the next steps only after your website is available at the new domain. Otherwise, your website will not be available until the process of changing your domain's destination is finished.
- Log in with your new domain in the admin section of your WordPress installation (e.g. http://www.yourdomain.co.uk/wp-login).
- Click Settings in the left navigation bar. Then enter the new URL in the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) boxes. If you are protecting your new domain with an SSL certificate, enter the addresses with the format https://www.your-domain.co.uk. If you are not protecting your new domain with an SSL certificate, enter the URL with the format http://www.your-domain.co.uk/.
- Click Save Changes.
- Open a new tab in your browser and go to the new URL. Make sure that your website is displayed correctly.
